Green Visionary Artistry – First Stop: Braga, Portugal

On March 19-20, 2025, the city of Braga hosted the first event of the “Green Visionary Artistry – A Tapestry of Environmental Expression” project, an initiative under the CERV program that brings together youth organizations, municipalities, and academic institutions to explore the intersection of art and environmental sustainability. This inaugural event marked the beginning of a collaborative journey aimed at raising climate awareness through artistic expression.

Key Moments of the Event

The event featured a variety of activities designed to foster international collaboration and highlight the role of art in environmental advocacy:

  • Kick-Off Meeting – International partners gathered to present the project’s main objectives, clarify roles and responsibilities, and establish a shared vision for the upcoming phases. This session provided a strong foundation for cooperation and set the stage for future initiatives.

  • Conference at Braga’s Town Hall – A high-level discussion on the role of art in addressing climate change, featuring municipal leaders, academic experts, and cultural representatives. The conference explored innovative approaches to engaging communities in sustainability efforts through creative expression.

  • Interactive Workshops with Profitecla Students – Participants collaborated with local students in artistic workshops focused on environmental themes. Through poetry, painting, music, theatre, and dance, they created thought-provoking pieces that reflected the urgency of climate action and the power of artistic advocacy.

A Network of Partnerships for Sustainability

The event brought together eight European organizations committed to promoting sustainability through art:

  • FAJUB (Portugal)
  • Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania)
  • Municipality of Pilisborosjenő (Hungary)
  • Municipality of Mengeš (Slovenia)
  • Fifty Fifty (Greece)
  • Municipality of Athienou (Cyprus)
  • Asociación CREACIA (Spain – Murcia)
  • Municipality of Siena (Italy)

The Beginning of a Creative and Sustainable Journey

This first gathering not only strengthened international cooperation but also inspired new forms of climate activism through artistic expression. By merging creativity with sustainability, the event demonstrated the potential of the arts to raise awareness and engage young people in shaping a greener future.

The “Green Visionary Artistry” project will continue to develop activities that empower youth and communities to use artistic tools as a means of promoting environmental consciousness. Stay tuned for upcoming initiatives and join us in transforming climate awareness through art.
